HI, I'm Noor, and recently joined the Waves Team. Noor is a recent graduate.

Noor is passionate about working with children and adolescents and finds this work both meaningful and rewarding. 

During her internship and placement she provided therapeutic services to clients across a wide range of ages; however, she discovered that working with children and adolescents felt the most natural and fulfilling to her.

Noor has experience utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive BehavioralTherapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and expressive arts interventions in her work. 

She is also eager to incorporate play therapy into her counseling practice and will be under supervision of Danyale Weems, LCSW, CCTP,  RPTS

As a parent herself, she believes play is central to a child's development and offers a powerful window into their inner world—their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.  Children often lack the language or capacity to verbally process their feelings for extended periods; traditional talk therapy does not meet their developmental needs. 

Noor believes children benefit most from a therapeutic environment that actively engages them, helps them remain present, and allows them to express themselves in developmentally appropriate ways.

Noor firmly believes that clients, including young children, possess agency and can actively contribute to the therapeutic process. 

She strives to meet clients where they are, treating them with respect, curiosity, and empathy. By creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative space, Noor empowers her clients to explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills at their own pace.

She studied abroad in the UK. She is a mother of two young children.

Qualifications:

Noor has completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Georgia and is pursuing her license as a professional counselor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Essex, UK.
