Hannah Newton, MSW Student Intern

Hello! My name is Hannah Newton, and I am an intern here at Waves for the Spring 2024-Fall 2025 semesters. I am passionate about meeting my clients where they are in their lives and walking alongside them in their journey to well-being! Regardless of what brings you to counseling, I strive to help clients give names to their feelings and experiences, which can promote growth and healing in our lives. I am under the supervision of Danyale Weems, LCSW, CCTP, RPT-S, and she is currently teaching me play therapy techniques which I incorporate into sessions with clients. I also enjoy incorporating expressive arts, mindfulness techniques, and physical movement in sessions (or outside!). I am mainly person-centered in my approach to counseling, but my approach is always altered to best fit the needs of my clients.

Qualifications:

I am currently earning my Masters in Social Work at University of South Florida and am set to graduate in December of 2025.

Fun Facts:

I enjoy children, spending time with my young child and family.
